It’s (finally) time to go! Tomorrow we begin our travels to South Africa. And after baking in 100 degree weather in Kansas for the past week, a South African winter is starting to sound mighty fine.
So all that stands between us and Cape Town is a quick 30 hours of travel time… shoot me. We’ve got a 2 hour flight from Kansas City to Detroit, a 7 hour flight from Detroit to Amsterdam, and an 11 and 1/2 hour flight from Amsterdam to Cape Town. Tag on a few extra hours for layovers and for travel to and from the airport, and it looks like we’ll be traveling for longer than a day. Have I mentioned I hate flying? I tend to think I am dying anytime I am forced to sit down for more than 3 hours, so this oughtta be a good one. I hope Delta started selling sedatives, or at least stocked up on their wine. We're going to be a sight for sore eyes by the time we finally arrive!

We will get to Cape Town at around 10:00 pm Friday night. (They are 6 hours ahead of EST) Now that this journey is actually beginning, I promise to be more attentive in updating this blog, and I will also try to make it less lame. I will post an update once we’ve arrived and checked out our new surroundings. See y'all in August!
